Student Visa Requirements

Instructions for obtaining a Student Visa:

  1. Send your application, with the application fee and the tuition deposit.
  2. When you are accepted into an English program, we will mail you a SEVIS I-20.
  3. To qualify for a student visa, students must be enrolled in a full-time course of studies (18 hours per week or more) or must be traveling to the US for the sole purpose of studying English.
  4. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires F-1 applicants to pay a $200 fee for the SEVIS I-20. You must pay this before the visa interview. You can do so on-line.  Print out a temporary receipt, but you will also receive an official one in the mail, which you will need to take with you to your visa interview.
  5. Make the appointment at the embassy or consulate in your country for the visa interview.  It could take weeks or months for the interview, so apply early!
  6. Go to the visa interview.
  7. When you are approved you will receive a student visa after the interview.

ESTA Applications

ESTA is a free, automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the U.S. under the VWP. It requires the same information as the paper I-94W form that VWP travelers currently fill out en route to the U.S.  ESTA applications may be completed online. The ESTA Web site, including the help section, is currently available in 16 languages, though all application responses must be provided in English.
